About Us · Divine Holistic Health Retreat

We are Divine Holistic Health Retreat. A hospital, a charitable mission, an Ayurveda retreat in Haridwar.

For three decades, a charitable mission in Haridwar has cared for thousands of people. From that work, the wellness retreat was born: doctor-led, set inside a hospital campus, rooted in the same spirit of seva.

Our Story · Since 1997

From a borrowed room in Haridwar

Divine Holistic Health Retreat did not begin as a wellness retreat. It began in 1997, in a borrowed room of a dharamshala in Haridwar, with twenty thousand rupees and the conviction that the people no one else would touch deserved a doctor. A young man back from the Himalayas had walked past the leprosy colony beside Har-ki-Paudi. He could not walk past again.

He brought a physician with him. He bought a small hut for five hundred rupees. He dressed wounds, fed the unfed, and slowly, over three decades, that one room grew into the Divya Prem Sewa Mission, a registered charitable trust running a dispensary, two children’s hostels, schools, a free-food kitchen, a mobile medical unit, and the hospital campus on which the retreat now sits.

This is the lineage Divine Holistic Health Retreat Haridwar carries. The retreat is the newest expression of a thirty-year vow, that healing should reach everyone, and that the world’s wealthier guests can quietly fund the care of those who cannot pay.

Ashish Gautam, known to everyone as Bhaiya Ji

Born into a modest rural family in Hamirpur, Uttar Pradesh, Bhaiya Ji studied at Allahabad University. There, the writings of Swami Vivekananda turned the direction of a clear-thinking young man into a settled vow. He spent the latter years of the nineteen-nineties in the Himalayan foothills, in meditation. When he came down, he stopped in Haridwar on the way to a city he never reached. Walking past Har-ki-Paudi one morning, he saw the leprosy colony at the river’s edge and could not unsee it.

He went home. He came back with twenty thousand rupees, asked a dharamshala for the loan of a room, and began. A physician, Dr. Nitin Agarwal, joined him to dress wounds. A small hut went for five hundred rupees and became the seed of Sewa Kunj, today the headquarters of the Divya Prem Sewa Mission.

I never had any success criteria in my mind.

The Campus · Where You Will Stay

A working hospital, a real retreat

The retreat does not sit on a resort. It sits on a hospital and retreat campus in Shyampur Kangri, Haridwar, the medical campus the mission built in 2015 to deliver charitable care. We host wellness guests in a dedicated retreat wing built to international retreat standard, with the clinical floor of the hospital one corridor away.

  1. 01

    Real Doctors

Every protocol is signed off by a BAMS, BNYS, or MBBS physician registered with the relevant Indian council. No wellness-practitioner titles. No therapist-led prescriptions. The hospital wing is where your intake happens, where labs are drawn if needed, and where any concern through the stay is escalated.

  2. 02

    Real Protocols

Treatments are not spa adaptations. Panchakarma is delivered the way the Charaka Samhita writes it. Naturopathy follows the AYUSH-recognised BNYS curriculum. Yoga is taught by certified Yoga Vachaspati graduates. Physiotherapy is delivered by registered physiotherapists, on the same floor where the hospital’s outpatient cases are seen.

  3. 03

    Real Clinical Floor

An on-call physician through the day and night, a sterile preparation room, an emergency cart on the hospital wing, an ambulance on standby. The safety net that a retreat without a hospital on its grounds simply cannot offer to a guest who has travelled half the world to be here.

Dr. Sanjay Chaturvedi Ji

MD, Divine Group

Dr. Sanjay Chaturvedi Ji leads the hospital and retreat campus at Shyampur Kangri. A physician by training, a leader by inclination, he runs the campus on four words inscribed above the staff entrance, and on a working principle he repeats to every new joiner. The patient who pays and the patient who cannot pay walk into the same campus and meet the same standard of care. Full clinical leadership profile lives at dcmsh.com.

Under his leadership the campus has built out a sterile clinical wing, a Panchakarma block to AYUSH specifications, a research-grade pharmacy, and the retreat wing in which Divine Holistic Health Retreat now hosts its guests. The retreat is the newest of those efforts, and the one that funds the rest.

  • Integrity What we say to the visitor and what we say in the operating room are the same thing.
  • Compassion The person in front of you is more than the diagnosis on the chart.
  • Excellence The only standard worth holding is the one you would hold for your own family.
  • Service The campus exists for the patient. The patient does not exist for the campus.

Profit With Purpose

Every stay becomes seva

When you stay at Divine Holistic Health Retreat, the surplus does not go to a shareholder. It goes back into the mission’s work. Here is exactly where.

  1. 01

    The Dispensary

Samidha Sewarth Chikitsalaya treats free or near-free patients every week. Your stay pays for the medicines on those shelves and the doctors at those tables.

  2. 02

    The Schools

Divya Prem Vidyalaya runs primary classrooms for children whose families could not otherwise afford fees. Your stay pays for the desks, the books, the meals at recess.

  3. 03

    The Free-Food Kitchen

Maa Ganga Bhojnalaya cooks and serves a hot, sattvic meal to anyone who walks in, every day, no questions asked. Your stay pays for the rice, the dal, the gas.

  4. 04

    The Children’s Hostels

Two hostels house and educate the children of leprosy-affected families. Your stay pays for their roof, their schooling, the steady care of someone who calls them by name.

A wellness retreat that funds the world’s oldest medical kindness. That is the trade.

Come see for yourself

We do not sell rooms. We host guests on a working hospital and retreat campus, the way a doctor would host a patient who needs a longer view. The first conversation is the intake call, complimentary, unhurried, with a physician who will tell you honestly whether a stay with us is the right next step.
